About NOAHH
About Us
Welcome to NOAHH (Northeast Ohio Association for Hispanic Health) We are a federally recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization committed to committed to promoting the health, wellness, and success of the Hispanic/Latino community in Northeast Ohio through our collaborative work with local health health organizations, and community stakeholders to ensure equitable access to healthcare services and address the unique health needs of the Hispanic/Latino population.
Over the last thirty years, the Latino population has increased by 243%, yet there has been a sharp 22% decrease in Latino physicians and medical professionals. Furthermore, Latinos account for only 5% of U.S. medical school graduates and just 2% of registered Latino nurses nationwide.
To address these disparities, NOAHH actively partners with medical professionals and healthcare facilities, enhancing their ability to serve our Hispanic community effectively. We focus on training providers in cultural competence, advising on prevalent health issues within the Latino community, and ensuring the availability of Spanish-language services. These initiatives are a crucial part of our overall strategy to bring you better access to Spanish-speaking healthcare providers, services, and materials, thereby significantly enhancing the quality of care available to our Hispanic community.
Our
Story
Get to Know Us
We are proud to be the organization formerly known as the Hispanic Health Committee, which was established in 2003 with a clear vision in mind. Our founders had a mission to prepare for Convención Hispana 2004, a remarkable gathering that brings together the vibrant Latino community of Northeast Ohio every three years in Cleveland. This event serves as a platform to shape the agenda, build strong relationships, and foster collaboration among residents, professionals, advocates, and policymakers.
As the Hispanic Health Committee evolved, we became an integral part of the Hispanic Round Table for La Convención Hispana, joining other dedicated teams in addressing health disparities within our Hispanic community. Recognizing the ongoing needs of our community, the members of the Hispanic Health Committee made the decision to continue meeting monthly, ensuring that we effectively manage and address the evolving needs of our community.
Join us as we embrace our rich history and work together towards a healthier and thriving future for all.
